As a photographer, I’ve taught myself to always bring all my gear and be prepared for everything. I broke that mantra for this show and paid the price. I usually only shoot shows where I can shoot from the photo pit and tend to avoid those where the photographers are given little chance of creativity by being shoved back to the sound board. This show unexpectedly fell into the second category. And even though I do have gear that will allow me to get close up shots, the distant viewpoint means all the shots would look pretty much the same anyway – just tighter. So, if the management of Tears for Fears (and any other band) is reading this, please let us professionals up front where we can get let our creativity soar (for three songs) and compete with the masses who are allowed to shoot with their modern point-and-shoot cameras and their Giga-pixel, Mega-cell phones for the entire show.
