Back in 2019, Virginia Beach saw Chevelle and Three Days Grace together, co-headlining with Breaking Benjamin. This year, Virginia Beach saw a little genre mashup with the hard rock of Chevelle and Three Days Grace mixed with the metal sounds of the British band, Loathe, for their Explosions tour.

The opener from Liverpool, England, Loathe, saw some local love as there was a respectful smattering of fans wearing Loathe garb and cheering from the rail. For a band that at first appeared about to give a mundane opening act, they quickly proved otherwise as lead singer Kadeem France set the stage on fire with his vocals and his theatrics. He called for a mosh pit which quickly formed.

Three Days Grace made their intentions clear when vocalist Matt Walst called for the floor to part into two, allowing for a mosh area. Although hard in the music, there was a somber theme of mental health awareness and taking care of one another, mixed in.

Mid-set, Matt did an acoustic version of World so Cold but the energy built back up until the end of their performance. During Just Like You, Matt invited a couple of young ladies onto the stage to dance and sing along. They danced, but they didn’t seem to know the words or the reason they were on the stage, as they put on a sort of lap dance for all to enjoy.

Chevelle ended out the evening with their simple but hard-driven and over-driven rock sound. During Send the Pain Below, an enthusiastic fan found an opportunity to make his way to the stage. He didn’t get far but singer/guitarist, Pete Loeffler commented that the offender seemed quite happy to be there.
