(January 9, 2026) — Kickstarting what promises to be a bold creative chapter, PLATINUM Country-Rock standouts Southall excitedly unveil a brand new single entitled “Southwestern Son”—out now. It marks the beginning of their next era and signals the arrival of more music on the horizon in 2026. Steady tambourine holds the tempo, and frontman Read Southall delivers charismatic and captivating verses. The momentum never waivers as a swinging groove underlines his soulful and skyscraping hook, “Keep on shining ‘Southwestern Son’.” Taking yet another left turn, a gospel choir carries the bridge chased by a fret-burning solo. Cut from the same cloth as your favorite Country-Rock essentials from back in the day, it has all the makings of a future staple now. “For me it’s a song about perspective,” says Southall frontman Read Southall. “Sometimes what we want is not what we need, and what we need is not what we want.”Audiences can expect to hear this anthem when the group hit the road for a string of North American tour dates this winter. First up on January 17, they’ll appear at Deadwood Red Dirt Music Festival in Deadwood, SD. Heading down South, they take over Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, TX on February 6. A couple weeks later, the group will traverse the Northeast and Midwest alongside Ole 60, beginning with a show at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA on February 19 and concluding this leg at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN on February 28.See the full list of tour dates below. | ABOUT SOUTHALL: Founding member Read Southall hails from Oklahoma and is joined in the six-piece group by Reid Barber, Jeremee Knipp, Braxton Curliss, John Tyler Perry, and Ryan Wellman. Southall’s musical influences range from Country to Rock to Metal and everything in between, making for a wholly original sound that Rolling Stone described as “infuse[ing] rock and metal into the band’s coffee shop vibe.” The guitar-driven band never loses focus on meaningful lyrics, penning tunes that speak to every aspect of life and help drive a Rock and Roll experience for their audience, whether they’re listening at home or at a packed show. The act throws gas on the fire beneath their fast-rising career with their last release, Southall – the raw and explosive self-titled album released via Smoklahoma Records. Southall’s 2021’s For the Birds features the epic six-minute long single “Where We Belong” and “impressive standout” (Raised Rowdy) “Rose Gold” and follows their 2017 album Borrowed Time, which includes their RIAA PLATINUM-certified single “Why”.
