MORE MUSIC SET TO ARRIVE IMMINENTLY

| NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 5, 2026) — Today, PLATINUM Country-Rock standouts Southall serve up a striking and soul-shaking new single entitled “Freight Train”—out now. Listen to “Freight Train” here. Off the starting block, the drums lock into a sturdy groove and give the track a strong swing, moving like the hinge of a door in the wind. Loose guitar rattles around a head-nodding bassline punctuated by old school piano and slow-simmering keys. Frontman, vocalist, guitarist, and namesake Read Southall gets reflective on verses. He yearns to hold onto the moment even though it just speeds along too fast to get a grip. While the days slip through his fingers, he laments, “Time is moving like a freight train, brother. I don’t know where to go.” By the end of the tune, he leans into this eventuality and accepts, “It keeps on moving.” Be on the lookout for the premiere of a cinematic music video accompanying “Freight Train.” About the single, founding member Read Southall commented, “‘Freight Train’ is a southern soul anthem dedicated to old friends and lovers. It touches on the loss of love and life and eventually comes to grips with the fact that it’s a path we must all walk.” It follows “Southwestern Son,” which arrived to critical acclaim at the top of last month. Entertainment Focus raved, “With ‘Southwestern Son,’ Southall reaffirm their roots while opening the door to what comes next. It’s a statement of intent from a band that understands where they’ve been, knows where they stand, and sounds ready to keep moving forward.” Raised Rowdy attested, “It’s the kind of track that reminds you why Southall has stayed relevant without chasing trends.” Listen to “Southwestern Son” here. This month, the group will traverse the Northeast and Midwest alongside Ole 60, beginning with a show at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA on February 19 and concluding this leg at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN on February 28. Over the summer, they will canvas North America on the massive Southern Hospitality Tour co-headlined by The Black Crowes and Whiskey Myers. This jaunt will place Southall in front of some of the biggest crowds they’ve played to thus far. See the full list of tour dates below. Purchase tickets here. Southall capped off a busy 2025 with the release of The Six String Sorrow Sessions that features seven re-recorded tunes from their breakout independent debut Six String Sorrow, tagging in the likes of John Jeffers of Whiskey Myers, Koe Wetzel, and Hudson Westbrook for new collaborative recordings. Beyond plugs from Music Matters Magazine and more, Whiskey Riff professed, “Southall is one of the best country leaning rock and roll bands in the business these days, and this year marks 10 years of the songs that started it all.” Country Central applauded how it “takes a dusty collection of decade-old fan-favorite gems and gives them the punchy, high-fidelity sound they’ve always deserved.” Prior, the band gave the original album new life on the 10 YEARS OF SIX STRING SORROW TOUR, which sold out dates coast-to-coast across North America. Boasting nearly 700 MILLION career streams, Southall has spent the last decade building a rabid grassroots following. Winning over crowds while headlining across the country, they’ve also opened for Whiskey Myers, Treaty Oak Revival, and ZZ Top. | ABOUT SOUTHALL: Founding member Read Southall hails from Oklahoma and is joined in the six-piece group by Reid Barber, Jeremee Knipp, Braxton Curliss, John Tyler Perry, and Ryan Wellman. Southall’s musical influences range from Country to Rock to Metal and everything in between, making for a wholly original sound that Rolling Stone described as “infuse[ing] rock and metal into the band’s coffee shop vibe.” The guitar-driven band never loses focus on meaningful lyrics, penning tunes that speak to every aspect of life and help drive a Rock and Roll experience for their audience, whether they’re listening at home or at a packed show. The act throws gas on the fire beneath their fast-rising career with their last release, Southall – the raw and explosive self-titled album released via Smoklahoma Records. Southall’s 2021’s For the Birds features the epic six-minute long single “Where We Belong” and “impressive standout” (Raised Rowdy) “Rose Gold” and follows their 2017 album Borrowed Time, which includes their RIAA PLATINUM-certified single “Why”. Full of ‘70s Soul, Country-inspired lyricism, and Rock and Roll heart, their music draws packed crowds and evokes old-school Country and early Grunge all at once. In celebration of their 10-year milestone, Southall successfully completed the 10 YEARS OF SIX STRING SORROW TOUR. Boasting nearly 700 MILLION career streams, Southall are currently in the studio with new music promised soon. |
