“God has blessed us with a beautiful family, which is still growing,” Jennings said. “Taryn and I are so excited to welcome yet another baby girl – Jessi Rae Jennings – into the world on February 22! I dedicate this song to my beautiful wife, cause we both know first hand what lovin you does. I love you baby, and I’m so proud of you!”

Written by Dustin Spears, “What Lovin’ You Does” is the fifth track Whey will release from his forthcoming March 27 album, Baptized By Fire [pre-save/pre-add], recently hailed as one of Saving Country Music’s ‘Most Anticipated New Country Albums’ for 2026 [read here]. In November, American Songwriter [click to read/listen] was the first to reveal the title of Jennings sophomore album in an exclusive feature and music video premiere of the Gospel-tinged song “Take His Hand.”

Baptized By Fire is a 12-track journey about Whey’s own life as a traveling troubadour, father, and man of God who was saved in 2020 during the pandemic from a life of drug and alcohol addiction. The new album features song writes with Jim “Moose” Brown (Willie Nelson, Jamey Johnson, Jimmy Buffett), Tyler Booth (Josh Turner), and Whey’s third duet with The Voice’s breakout country recording artist Karen Waldrup

Jennings and his co-writers’ expertly crafted lyrics are combined with top-tier production from Producer Gary Carter (Kenny Chesney, Marty Stuart, Alan Jackson) and his team, recording the tracks at Danny Parks Long Hollow Studio and his own GC studio. Guitar work comes from Grand Ole Opry band member Danny Parks, piano and organs by Mike Rojas (Ricky Skaggs, Hank Williams Jr.), a multi-winner of ACM’s Keyboard Player of the Year award, acoustic guitar by Joel Key (Cody Johnson, Thomas Rhett, and Toby Keith), steel guitar by Gary Carter, fiddle by Deanie Richardson (Del McCoury Band, Hank Williams Jr., Marty Stuart) and percussion by Garth Justice (Ricky Skaggs, Reba McEntire, Jo Dee Messina).

“This album is close to my heart and I’ve never felt more at home with my music as I do now,” Jennings said. “If you want to know who I really am as a person, the songs on this album present an open window to both my heart and soul as a songwriter.”

About Whey Jennings:
Country singer-songwriter Whey Jennings was born into one of country music’s most iconic family names, first emerging in 2012 as another naturally gifted singer from the Jennings tribe. With large boots to fill, the young Nashville recording artist and singer-songwriter for Dirt Rock Empire, with a booming baritone voice as big as Texas, finds himself with a few expectations to live up to. Seeking to establish his own musical legacy as one of the few remaining torch-bearing country traditionalists out there, Whey can instantly take his fans back to a time and sound his Grandfather Waylon and Grandmother Jessi gave birth to in the 70’s, even with his own songs.

Jennings has three studio recorded EP releases under his belt, 2020’s Gypsy Soul, 2022’s If It Wasn’t for The Sinnin’, and 2023’s Just Before The Dawn. In the summer of 2024, Whey released his critically acclaimed, highly anticipated first full length album, Jekyll & Hyde, which premiered at #10 on Apple iTunes Top 40 Country Albums Chart, and #7 on iTopChart’s Top Country Music Album Chart. Jekyll & Hyde has been hailed by Fox News, Billboard, People Magazine, Forbes, Cowboys & Indians, Men’s Journal, Rodeo Life Magazine and recognized as one of the most anticipated albums of 2024 by SavingCountryMusic.com. His sophomore album, Baptized By Fire, is due out March 27, 2026.

Many of Whey’s songs reveal real-life stories of how he has come to terms with and recovered from his checkered past of too much partying, led by a drug-fueled lifestyle. Songs about struggles, addiction, finding sobriety, and redemption through faith in God, family and his friends. Whey is forging his craft of straightforward songwriting and storytelling, while remaining a little rough around the edges. His unpolished grit and honest demeanor defines his sound, mixed with musical roots that run as deep as his famous Jennings family name would imply.
