NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Makenzie Phipps, known for her appearance on The Voice, is back today with the release of her new EP ‘Pick Your Poison,’ highlighted by its final track, “Whiskey Kills The Time.” Known for delivering songs that tug at the heartstrings, Phipps once again blends real-life emotion with traditional country storytelling, capturing the all-too-familiar aftermath of heartbreak. With honest lyrics and a classic country feel, the song paints the picture of a breakup eased only by a little whiskey, a lot of reflection, and the tears that come with trying to move on. “Whiskey Kills The Time” was premiered by Country Evolution.

“Whiskey Kills The Time” lyrics

Verse

Evan Williams is always listening

And he’s never let me down.

Jack seems to have the answers

Whenever he’s around.

When the bottle’s done run empty,

Someone always takes its place.

My shot glass don’t run dry,

and you can see it on my face

Chorus

Time don’t kill the whiskey

Whiskey kills the time

Drownin’ out the memories

Tryna get you off my mind

Me and this ole bar stool

He’s a dear friend of mine.

I don’t know if it will fix me,

Time don’t kill the whiskey

 Whiskey kills the time.

“My ‘Pick Your Poison’ EP has been such a fun project in the making,” shares Phipps. “There are so many incredible songs on this EP that I’m so proud of, and a bonus for everyone to enjoy. I can’t wait to hear what folks think of the new song, “Whiskey Kills the Time”, and I’m glad to have something out that ties all of my drinking songs together, which wasn’t intentional at all; it just happened to end up that way. Sorry, Mom, I promise the next song will be about you!”
