Dolly Parton, one of the most iconic voices of country music. Dating back to 1962, Dolly has worked her way up in the music business from nothing to world wide fame. As someone who grew up on country music and listening to the greats it is great to see her still producing the same fantastic quality of music only she can deliver. More than just an artist behind the microphone, Dolly has also became successful one the silver screen and penning her own books, to the creation of the ever-so fun “Dollywood” located in Pigeon Forge.
Her most noted and memorable movie based on her life and one that she also stars in is “Coat of Many Colors”. This movie will fill your heart, and also make you a little wet around the eyes but more than worthy of viewing. First premiering on the Hallmark Channel, it is a instant classic that will always run around the holidays.
She has performed with country music’s greats; George Jones, Loretta Lynn, George Strait, Johnny Cash, Merale and Willie, Minnie Pearl just to name a few. They have had the honor to perform with her, and even now the new and upcoming artist are looking up to Dolly, having that inspiration to become an artist themselves.
Hits, hits, hits, that’s about all you can say about her extensive list of big hit singles. “Islands In The Streams”, Jolene”, “I Will Always Love You”, “Here You Come Again, and everyone’s rockin’ favorite “9 to 5”. Eight Grammy’s, 13 ACM awards, 11 CMA awards, 12 CMT awards, and dozens of other awards and nominations that decorate the musical legend.
Dolly also has a huge heart for giving back. In 2016 when the Gatlinburg fire hit Tennessee her home town, Dolly gave back to the families affected to help them through this terrible time. Not only then but she has also put together “Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library” a program where they mail books to children all around the world. Started in 1995, the total books given out so far is surpassing over 1 million. Dolly has had a lasting affect on children in the most positive way possible. An imagination is something that some kids may only have, and an imagination might be all you need to reach your dreams in life.

“When I was growing up in the hills of East Tennessee, I knew my dreams would come true. I know there are children in your community with their own dreams. They dream of becoming a doctor or an inventor or a minister. Who knows, maybe there is a little girl whose dream is to be a writer and singer. The seeds of these dreams are often found in books and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world.”
