Devon Allman Project Featuring Duane Betts Plays Knoxville Tennessee on Cinco De Mayo 2018
Devon Allman (son of Gregg Allman) and his new band The Devon Allman Project featuring Duane Betts (Son of Dickey Betts) kicked off a New concert series called Music Feeds in Knoxville Tennessee on May 5, 2018. The concert was the first show for the new Music Feeds Concert series this summer to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank. It was held at the outdoor Tennessee Ampitheater on the Worlds Fair Park where Knoxville Tennessee hosted the 1982 worlds fair. The big glowing sunsphere still stands today to commerate the worlds fair . The Ampitheater has not been used in 25 years but has been updated and restored. to make it more intimate and because the threat of storms that day a black curtain was put up behind the stage which when the lights hit it made for a very nice backdrop. The Devon Allman Project is on their World Tour and we were thrilled to have them in Knoxville and hope they return soon as they can.
Duane Betts is a tall lanky fellow with long hair and cowboy hat. He started the night off. Not one for talking much Duane got straight to the music, but when he gets into the music you know it by kicking up his feet and making that guitar sing. He performed his new song “Taking Time” from his new EP called “Sketches Of American Music” which is a really great song.
Devon Allman took to the stage next. Playing a varity of songs. Devon is the outgoing one and came out sporting a black leather coat red shirt and black hat. He was Rockin out all over that stage . Then he brought Duane back on stage. They did some tunes sitting on stools and then Rocked the house. They did sing some popular Allman Brothers Songs “Melissa” and “Midnight Rider” . Devon surprised the audience by running off the stage up the steps of the ampitheater and down the other side and had the audience in a frenzy up on their feet cheering and rocking out.
at the end of the night the whole band got together at the front of the stage to take a bow to a standing and cheering ovation.
