The Legendary Band Chicago Played The Historic Tennessee Theater in Knoxville Tennessee May 23, 2018 to a sold out crowd!
Chicago , Hailed as one of the “most important bands in music since the dawn of the rock and roll era” by former President Bill Clinton, the legendary rock and roll band with horns, The Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. Long time coming and very deserving!! Chicago’s first album, Chicago Transit Authority, was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2014, and the band performed on the Grammy stage for the first time that year. Robert Lamm and James Pankow are the legendary songwriters wrote mega-hits such as, “25 or 6 to 4,” “Saturday In The Park,” “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day,” “Make Me Smile,” and many others
This was not the bands first time in Knoxville and they said they will be back.
This was their final show on their spring tour and you could just tell the band was having a blast! They started aprox. 7:30pm on a wednesday night and the eager crowd was ready. There was no opener but its Chicago they didnt need one! They played til after 10 pm with a short intermission . Their first set included the whole Chicago 2 album being played in its entirety. Ending that set with the poplular “25 or 6 to 4”. Which had the Whole place on their feet dancing, singing and cheering on the band. After the intermission they came back and started the second set off with “Beginnings” both sets were FANTASTIC! The Band has so much energy it resonates to the audience then back to the band. They are a Very Talented group of musicians. They had a VERY impressive stage show with lights and video back drops . But its Chicago they could have just been onstage with nothing but their instruments and people would have loved them. They Did several crowd pleasing songs that had couples and people dancing . They played “Hard Habit to Break” and “Your The Inspiration”. “Saturday in The Park” Just to Name a Few. The Double drum solo was Amazing! with a “wall of fire” surrounding them as they played made for a very spectacular moment in the show. The Band sounds just as Great as ever !! I believe the audience could have stayed all night as it was packed til the end of the night with a standing ovation of cheering fans. The end of the show the whole band took a bow at the front of the stage. They Have a Few Newer band members but as they say “we are all Chicago” . They will be taking some time off but will be back out on the road starting their summer tour in June. Be Sure to catch them if they come your way.
