Legendary rocker, JOAN JETT was just announced this morning as an addition to The Amp’s incredible season lineup for June!
Joan Jett is an American rock singer, songwriter, composer, musician, record producer, and actress. Jett is best known for her work as the frontwoman of her band Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.
Today is International Women’s Day. IWD is defined as a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and we’re celebrating by honoring the cultural force, Joan Jett. Jett grew up during a time when rock ‘n’ roll was off-limits to girls and women, but she promptly blew the door to the boys’ club off its hinges in 1975 with her first band, The Runaways.
“Being told that girls can’t play rock ‘n’ roll— I mean, even as a kid, it was so illogical to me. It’s like, what do you mean? That girls can’t master the instruments?” She continues, “Other people have called me a rebel, but I just feel like I’m living my life and doing what I want to do. If I listened to everybody who told me I couldn’t do it, then I wouldn’t be doing it.”
Joan has carved her name into rock and roll, paving the way for women as she has poured out hit after hit over the decades. “Cherry Bomb”, ”I Love Rock and Roll”, ”I Hate Myself For Loving You” are only a small fraction of iconic discography that fans will anticipate hearing June 3rd at The Amp at Dant Crossing!
