Matt Maeson’s ties to the Hampton Roads area were evident as the nearly sold out crowd showed their enthusiasm from the very beginning, even with the opening act. Brennan Smiley, a touring artist from Phoenix, might as we have been from right here in Norfolk too, as the crowd gave him a warm reception throughout his entire set. One would almost think he was the headlining act before Matt came out.

Matt’s soulful style of folk captured the entire audience. Signed by Neon Gold and then Atlantic Records, his first hit single was “Cringe” in 2016. He’s now put out eight singles over two full length records.

His chaotic family life is evident in his lyrics which chronicle much of his youth. Look for him as he makes his way along his US tour, with several of his shows already sold out, weeks in advance.
