Skillet with Adelita’s Way and Eva Under Fire at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia

By Glenn Woodell Skillet always draws an exuberant crowd and this show was no different as it was near-capacity at the NorVa this evening. Hard rockers, Adelita’s Way, who had been to the Hampton Roads area back in May, was back in front of some familiar faces as an opener. New to the area was the female-fronted Eva Under Fire – think Evanescence turned up … Continue reading Skillet with Adelita’s Way and Eva Under Fire at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia

MusicMattersMagazine’s contributing member, Glenn Woodell, had the opportunity to have a special interview with bassist and founding member of Static-X, Tony Campos. MMM: How did the reunion in 2018 come about? Had this been in the works for some time? Campos: Koichi and I never lost touch. Sevendust with Tremonti, Cane Hill, Lullwater, and Kirra at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia February 9th, 2019

I had the pleasure to sit with the members of Lullwater before the show and ask them a few questions. Do you want to talk about the influence of external forces on your music? John: You know, I think … Continue reading Sevendust with Tremonti, Cane Hill, Lullwater, and Kirra at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia February 9th, 2019

Sofi Tukker with LP Giobbi and Crush Club at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia October 21, 2018

If you’ve ever been to a show where the time between the acts is a mix of gear changeouts and annoying filler music, this was not one of those. With a minimal amount of gear on the stage and with LP Giobbi at the helm, it was a night of perfect transitions as she not only provided the opening and changeover music, but she was … Continue reading Sofi Tukker with LP Giobbi and Crush Club at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia October 21, 2018

Black Label Society at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia August 5th, 2018

EyeHate God Corrosion of Conformity Black Label Society The NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia delivered again. This time it was the trio of heavy rockers EyeHate God, Corrosion of Conformity, and the legendary Black Label Society with Zakk Wylde. Sometimes there is a fine line between rock and metal. And although these bands are considered metal, they were heavy rockers in my book. EyeHate God puts … Continue reading Black Label Society at the NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia August 5th, 2018

Violent Femmes at the NorVa July 24, 2018

It all started with what sounded like a few of the audience members stomping their feet at the back of the house. The sound grew larger and began to move along the side, toward the front, as the audience turned to watch and listen, trying to figure out what was going on. Then, one by one, the members of the band, each one holding a … Continue reading Violent Femmes at the NorVa July 24, 2018
