Samantha Fish at Elevation 27 in Virginia Beach, Virginia November 15, 2024

By Glenn Woodell

I’ve covered a wide variety of shows but Samatha Fish’s show was definitely one of the best. I missed her the last two times she came through the area and made it a priority to catch her this time. From the moment she walked into the stage lights with her blazing red jump suit she commanded the attention of the entire venue.

It’s hard to put her into any one genre. Blue is obvious but she puts so much more into her music. Layers of rock and country definitely come to mind. She’s not just a strummer with a soulful voice. She can play a guitar like the big boys and she’s done plenty of that with them along the way.

For this show, she invited two musicians to accompany her. Vocalist, Mitch Ryder of the Detroit Wheels joined her on a couple of songs while guitarist, Bernard Allison played with her for the encore.

Samantha’s love of playing live permeated through the crowd and I hope to see her again, though it will undoubtedly be at a larger venue.
