The Hook, A New Songwriter Showcase, Podcast & Live-Taped Internet Show Hosts Inaugural Event At Nashville’s Eastside Bowl, Looks Towards Upcoming Pilot Taping

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 22, 2025) – On September 01 at Nashville’s Eastside Bowl a new songwriter showcase event, podcast and internet show called The Hook, filmed its inaugural live-taped event and final test run. Their next event and official pilot episode taping is scheduled for September 29, from 7:30-9:30pm at Eastside Bowl’s The ’58. It’s a FREE event to attend by the general public and is open to songwriters of all talent levels to perform in. Songwriters & performers are encouraged to arrive by 7pm to get their song in the hopper.

The Hook was founded by veteran country music journalist and critic Kyle “Trigger” Coroneos of SavingCountryMusic.com, who is aiming to make this a top-of-the-line production, captured live for distribution on YouTube and other platforms. Leading The Hook’s film production crew is Director Jim Yockey (Grand Ole Opry, Music City Roots, Bluegrass Underground), Eric Martin (Music City Roots), and Peter Kimball (Music City Roots). Cliff Seltzer, who recently curated the acclaimed Jerry Garcia exhibition at the Bluegrass Museum Hall of Fame, will lead in the role of Executive Producer.

“If you’re anything like me, you’re perpetually frustrated that your favorite songwriters never seem to get their due,” said Trigger. “We’ve all had those moments when a song completely knocks you on the floor the first time you hear it. Sure, a good song can help pass the time and get your toe tapping. But a great song can change a life, change someone’s perspective on life, or change the world itself. We’re in search of those great songs.”

Songwriter Victoria Camp also officially became The Hook’s first golden patch winner, meaning she can come back any time and perform a song on the show. Songwriters earn that distinction when they turn in a superlative performance and song. Country music artist Jami Grooms appeared and performed his unreleased song “The Night I Killed Myself” that earned him a golden patch as well. Other performers included Cody Tinnon formerly of the Stillhouse Junkies, Paul Orehovec who performs under the name Poor Life Choices, Joel ShummakeAfton Wolf, and KP Hawthorn.

About The Hook:
In an era when so many of the greatest songs go unheard, and their composers are resigned to virtual obscurity, The Hook aspires to open up a new and exciting forum for songs and their creators to find the audience and support they deserve. By breaking down the siloed perspectives that everyone suffers from in the digital age and completely opening up the opportunities to everyone, the best songs and songwriters will emerge with the help of artistic criticism and a dash of humor.

Though singing competitions abound, and forums for songwriters are not uncommon, The Hook is unique in how it centers the song first, not the singer, or the performance. A good performance can help sell a great song, but a great song can go much further, changing hearts and minds, changing our perspectives on the world, and changing the world itself.

The Hook believes the next world-changing song is out there just waiting to be heard. It seeks to create a platform to discover and showcase songs in a way that would preserve the small and pure tones of truth that would be otherwise smothered by mainstream noise. The Hook wants to hear the next world changing song, and is ready to dig through the ugly, the profane, and the downright bad to find them.
