San Francisco-based Americana singer-songwriter revisits her beloved Speed Bump track with a playful new visual inspired by an unlikely songwriting challenge.

NASHVILLE, TN – (May 22, 2026) – San Francisco-based Americana singer-songwriter Liz Kennedy has released a new animated video for “Arugula,” bringing fresh attention to a fan-favorite song from her 2014 album, Speed Bump. Produced by J. Jaffe at Studio D Sausalito, the song carries the kind of organic storytelling and playful inspiration that has long shaped Kennedy’s songwriting. “A friend once asked me how I write songs,” Kennedy shares. “I said, ‘I don’t know, give me an idea.’ We were eating dinner, and she said, ‘Okay, write a song about arugula.’ And I did. Liz Kennedy reflects, “I never imagined this song would circle back around the way it has. “Arugula”, from my 2014 record Speed Bump, now has a brand-new video that is quite sweet and fun, and literally spicy, like the song.  I feel the same about this song after all these years.  I just like the guy in the song.  Someone I married long ago.”

The recording features Liz Kennedy on vocals and piano, joined by an accomplished ensemble of musicians including Billy Johnson on drums, Don Bassey on bass and background vocals, J. Jaffe on guitar and background vocals, Eamonn Flynn on keyboards, and Omega Brooks on background vocals. The track was engineered, mixed, and digitally programmed by J. Jaffe, with additional engineering by Jason Victorine and assistant engineering by Jason Victorine and Dwight Roberts.
