New York, NY — Following the acclaimed debut of her Netflix comedy special Galaxy Brain, comedian, writer and actor Mary Beth Barone will release her comedy album, Galaxy Brain, on August 19 via MCA. Capturing the complete audio from her hit special, the album will be available on all streaming platforms. 

The announcement follows Barone’s recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she officially launched her campaign for Best Comedy Album at the 2027 GRAMMY Awards — a category historically dominated by male comedians. With Galaxy Brain, Barone hopes to continue elevating the next generation of female voices in stand-up while bringing her unmistakable perspective to listeners and comedy fans alike.

“Galaxy Brain is such a special project for me. I’m excited people will now be able to take it with them wherever they go,” says Barone. “Whether you’re sweating on the elliptical, taking a road trip with your best friend, or just want to escape your own anxieties by tapping into mine, this album is for you. It’s a dream to release the album with MCA. I’ve always wanted a record deal!”

The release caps off a landmark year for Barone. In addition to premiering Galaxy Brain, which made Netflix’s Top 10, she stars in and writes for the hit Amazon/A24 comedy series Overcompensating, which will return for Season 2 next year. She also co-hosts the popular podcast Ride alongside Benito Skinner.

Known for her razor-sharp observations, fearless honesty and brilliantly self-aware perspective, Barone has emerged as one of comedy’s most distinctive voices. She previously self-produced her stand-up special, Thought Provoking, released in 2024, and has headlined sold-out performances at the New York Comedy Festival, Just for Laughs, Netflix Is A Joke Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
