Recorded in one day at Tulsa’s historic Church Studio, Blazy follows in the footsteps of Leon Russell, Bob Dylan, and Eric Clapton

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 28, 2026) — Acclaimed songwriter Kent Blazy releases The Tulsa Sessions today, a deeply personal collection of 11 recordings captured at the legendary Church Studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Recorded in a single inspired session with acclaimed engineer Gary Laney, the project features nine newly written songs alongside two reimagined favorites. Cale, made enduring recordings, The Tulsa Sessions showcases Blazy’s signature storytelling while paying tribute to the remarkable musical legacy of one of America’s most revered recording studios.

Ahead of its release, The Tulsa Sessions drew early attention from country music media and industry outlets. Saving Country Music included the project in its “Most Anticipated New Albums for 2nd Half of 2026” Release Radar and again highlighted the album among an Aug. 28 release slate the publication declared a “Country Music Holiday.” The project also received advance coverage and recognition from outlets including MusicRow Magazine and Across the Tracks.
Describing the special recording, Blazy noted, “Sometimes everything just falls into place. I left home before daylight, flew to Tulsa, dropped my bag at the hotel, and headed straight to The Church Studio. From the moment we started recording with Gary Laney, there was an energy in that room that you could feel. Standing where artists like Leon Russell, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and J.J. Cale made music was incredibly inspiring. By the end of the day, after recording 11 songs, I realized we hadn’t just made demos; we had made a record. That’s how The Tulsa Sessions came to life.”

“I wanted this record to capture a real moment in time. There are no artificial enhancements, no Auto-Tune, no Pro Tools fixes, just musicians, songs, and a performance exactly as it happened. Most of these songs had only recently been written and were still being road-tested before my upcoming sessions at Blackbird Studio in Nashville. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to be in an environment where we can simply press record and let the music speak for itself. Sometimes the most honest recordings are the ones you don’t try to perfect,” Blazy said.
“The Tulsa Sessions is wonderful. Kent sounds great both vocally and on guitar, and the songs shine through their simple, honest delivery. The energy he felt inside The Church Studio comes through clearly in the performances. His creative output continues to amaze me, particularly knowing how much of this material is new. I also deeply appreciate Kent’s reverence for the artists who came before him. From my vantage point, one I believe is shared by countless music fans, Kent walks tall alongside Dylan and so many of the artists he reveres. It’s an honor to hear this music straight from the man himself.”— Don Wiggins, former director of customer service, Fender Musical Instruments Corp.
