Country Music group Parmalee took the country music scene by storm with the release of their debut album “Feels Like Carolina”. The band has most recently released a new single titled “Roots”. Sunday night 10/30 Parmalee fans gathered at The Bluestone in Columbus, OH to witness the group’s live performance. In addition to the headliner, fans were treated to great music by two other acts.

The first act of the night was Mitch Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick is a country music singer/songwriter out of Lancaster, OH and has recently released a self titled EP this past April. The next band to perform that night was a group of guys out of Pittsburgh, PA who call themselves The Hillbilly Way. The group is comprised of Chris “Abby” Abbondanza (lead vocalist), Jeff Volek (bass), David “Junior” Guthrie (lead guitar), and Keith Kleinhampl (drums). Abbondanza, Volek and Guthrie had previously played together as members of The Povertyneck Hillbillies. The band kicked off the show with a single that was previously recorded by BlackHawk and The Povertyneck Hillbilles titled “One Night in New Orleans”. The band would also perform another Povertyneck favorite titled “She Rides Wild Horses”. Mixed in throughout the setlist were crowd pleasing covers of John Michael Montgomery’s “Sold”, The Temptations’ “My Girl”, Trace Adkins’ “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” and others.
Abby engaged the crowd with hand gestures, eye contact while working the entire stage as he acknowledged fans from the front row all the way to the balcony. At one point Abby would invite four members from the crowd to join him onstage for a dance party. The band closed out the night with their latest single, “Best Night of Our Lives”. After two great opening performances, the crowd was warmed up just enough for the headliner to take the stage. The stage setup and laser light show created a fun atmosphere for those in attendance as Parmalee would play all of their hits and more from their debut album. “Feels Like Carolina” is one of them albums where the band could release every song from that album as a single and each song would have the potential to climb the charts. Parmalee is continuing to put out quality music with their most recent single “Roots”. The band featured Josh McSwain on keys when playing their latest single live at the Bluestone. The bands energetic stage presence combined with their musical talent and spectacular laser light show had the fans singing and dancing all night.
In addition to their originals Parmalee would play a medley of covers from the past. These covers would include Bob Seger’s “Night Moves”, Otis Redding’s “Dock of the Bay”, Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On”, Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”. The crowd excitedly responded with beers in the air and their loudest cheers of the night. The band would close out the night with the hit song “Carolina” and would leave the stage as the stage lights turned blue and spelled out The End onstage. The band would also invite fans to their merchandise booth for a meet and greet and photo opportunity following the show. For more information on Parmalee please visit www.parmalee.com .
