Skillet; a frying pan that is used to cook foods….or Skillet the Christian rock band that will “Rock your face off”. Formed in Memphis Tennessee in 1996. They went through a lot of change ups with band members over the years so John is the only remaining founding band member. Staying persistent and dedicated to producing intense beats and deep lyrics and an insane touring schedule year round has given them a top five ranking in the Hardest Working Bands of 2010 by Songkick.com
The band consist of John Cooper (lead vocals, bass) and wife Korey Cooper (guitar, keys, backing vocals), Seth Morrison (Lead Guitar), and Jen Ledger (drums).
Studio albums: Skillet (1996), Hey You, I Love Your Soul (1998), Invincible (2000), Ardent Worship (2000), Alien Youth (2001), Collide (2003), Comatose (2006), Awake (2009), Rise (2013), Unleashed (2016)
Skillet has become a household name in the Rock and Christian Rock worlds. Having headlined along with some great bands such as Breaking Benjamin, Casting Crowns, Three Days Grace, Seether, Jeremy Camp, Kutless just to name a few. They are proud to be Christians and is apparent in the songs they write and have been a staple in all rock related genres since the birth of Skillet.
If you’ve never been to a Skillet concert the atmosphere is unlike anything you’ll ever experience in your life. It is more than a sound of killer guitar riffs and drum beats, more than John screaming atop his lungs in a chorus, it is undefining and raw. One could even go as far as saying life changing. John has always had a way to make listeners feel like they plunged themselves into the lyrics of the song but to feel them and hear them in the way the band brings to life the songs we live by, opening the inner monster of ourselves in ways no one may even know but God.
Here a some photos from one of Skillets shows last year when headlining the Air1 Positive Hits Tour in Lexington Kentucky taken by Ryan Pike.
