Music Matters Magazine was thrilled to attend this expo again this year!
Musicians, Podcasters and fans came from all over the country to Nashville Tennessee To the third annual Rock N Pod Expo. Its a different kind of expo a one of a kind. Brought to you by Chris Czynszak. Who really out did himself this year. It was all in one central location this time. The event was held at the Marriott Hotel and convention center near the Nashville airport .You could stay on site which alot of people really liked. The preparty started Friday evening as people started arriving early and gathering in the lobby waiting for the concert to start. Opening the concert was the band Lipstick Generation who did a great job priming the audience . Lead Singer Greg Troyan ll decked out in all black leather was rocking and running all over the stage, getting down on his knees at one point, very lively show ! and his bandmates Stephen Smith, Cody Bottoms & Spencer Woodley kept the party going and rocking and one point running out in the audience. They packed their shorter set with classic and original songs like “I Stole your love”, “I like the way I rock”, “Fight Back”, “Alone” and a few more. ,
Next was the band EightBall. They are Rock n Roll ! Headed by David Bush who just oozes Rock n Roll hit the stage and only slowed down to do a ballad or to give out some of their cds to lucky front row fans. other very talented members included Val Batts, Chuck Gee, Greg Burnette, Jared Qualls proved they indead were there to Rock! They played original songs but they were memorable songs and had the crowd singing along. They brought out the american flag during one song “Warriors of the Free World”. It was a very fun show!
Next up was Nashvilles own Thee Rock n Roll Residency ! Which you would probably recognize Ryan Cook, Jeremy Asbrock and Philip Shouse from playing and touring with Kiss members Gene Simmons and Ace Frehleys solo bands .
They played songs like “ Godzilla,” “ Heavy Metal” Snortin Whiskey” . Then they started bringing up special guests to sing /play like Ricky Dover Jr., Brian Forsythe of Kix, Michael Sweet Of Stryper, Tony Harnell of TNT, Michael did Van Halens “Aint Talking about Love” and Strypers “Soldiers Under Command” Tony sang some Led Zeppelin, Ricky did guitar on ZZ Tops song Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers, Brian lent his expert guitar playing doing some Lynyrd Skynyrd on the song “ That Smell” This was definetly a Rocking and fun show!
Saturday mornings Expo brought in fans /podcasters/artists / they had panel discussions with the artists, several guitar give aways, a cosplay dressup contest, lots of podcasters interviewing the artists, meet and greets for the artists, a wonderful acoustic set by Roxy Blue band before their meet and greet, lots of memorabilia & vinyl to purchase, everything a rock and roll lover or Rock podcaster could want in one weekend in one location! Everything seemed to run like clockwork . It was a very professional run Expo. I Highly recommend anyone who loves rock to attend.
Ending the day saturday was the after party concert . Which was fantastic! Opening with a short set was Eightball doing another fantastic set!
Then It was time for Dave Ellefson of Megadeth and EMP label / record producer artist Thom Hazaert. They got the crowd on their feet. Dave bass playing is Amazing! you could feel it deep inside of you. They too were joined on stage with several artists and did a variety of songs like Rust In Peace, Dawn Patrol, Paranoid, Anarchy in The Uk, Symphony of Destruction, Peace Sells to name some.
