This year,  it’s for the Country Music Hall of Fame recognizing Pete Drake’s lifetime of music achievements doing what he loved best playing his steel guitar.   

Do you enjoy decorating? 

Yes, I love lots of twinkling lights and sparkles at Christmastime

Let’s settle the debate: does the Christmas tree go up after Halloween or after Thanksgiving?

  Thanksgiving weekend.  I think it’s the perfect time to have the family put the tree up together

Do you have any Christmas traditions? If not, are there any that you would like to try or start?  

I have always found a hospital, nursing home or children’s home to give gifts to.  It’s just what I feel Christmas is about….giving to strangers and not just family. 

How long did you believe in Santa? 

About age 8 when I found all the presents hidden 

Do you do your Christmas shopping early, or are you a last second shopper?

  I Christmas shop all year and my closet is always full of gifts for Christmas

What does Christmas mean to you?  

It’s a time of year to reflect on all the past Christmases with family and be grateful for the present time of year. 

We all know Christmas dinners mean some of the dishes that we’ve been craving like homemade dressing, grandma’s turkey and ham. What is the dish you are most looking forward to digging into come Christmas dinner? 

Homemade dressing with gravy and lots of cranberry sauce and lots of deviled eggs

What are your plans this year for Christmas?

To spend it at home with my very special man Freddy Cannon with a big plate of his homemade pesto pasta! Then visit family  Christmas afternoon.

Do you have to have snow to really make it feel Christmas or could you live without it?

I love the snow if I don’t have to leave home.

Are there any Christmas tunes you like to put on to set the Christmas mood?

We see it every year, something new is made smelling or tasting like pumpkin spice. What are your thoughts? Overkill, bring it on, or really do not care?

Do you have any memorable Christmas memories from your childhood or recent that make Christmas a memorable time of year?  

One of the last Christmases with Pete, he wanted all his grandchildren to understand what Christmas should be about.  He gave each of the grandchildren money to go buy a homeless child a gift that they wanted for themselves. It was hard for them because they wanted to keep the gift, but it was a great life lesson. 

For me as a teenager I got a transistor radio that I could listen to Country music under the covers late at night   The Ralph Emery All Night Show on WSM….It was the beginning of my love for Country music.
