The follow-up to her record-breaking AM I OKAY? TOUR, Moroney’s most ambitious outing yet also gained notice from the likes of The Tennessean (“Megan Moroney fans: Consider this your cue to break out the signature pink. The ‘Emo Cowgirl’ is taking her show global”), Country Now (whose Instagram declared that “@megmoroney is officially leveling up”), and Whiskey Riff (“Megan has been on quite a trajectory since the release of her debut studio album Lucky…This next year is shaping up to be even bigger”).Fresh off receiving the Storyteller of the Year honor at Variety’s Hitmakers event last Saturday (12/6), Moroney claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Country Artists – Female chart for 2025. In an exclusive feature for PEOPLE (complete with a head-turning fashion spread), she opens up about her most cherished highlights in an action-packed 2025, including teaming up with Country icon Kenny Chesney on their chart-climbing duet “You Had to Be There,” making history as the winner of the first-ever Best Country prize at the MTV Video Music Awards, taking the stage with Pop superstars like Tate McRae and Ed Sheeran, and completing work on Cloud 9. “It’s written from a perspective where my feet are really planted, and I feel really confident with where I’m at in my life and who’s around me,” Moroney reveals in the interview, noting that Cloud 9 is “the most excited I’ve been about an album release so far.”One of the most wildly anticipated albums of 2026, Cloud 9 will follow the GOLD-certified and game-changing Am I Okay? — a 2024 LP that emerged as the year’s third-biggest Billboard 200 debut from a female Country artist and delivered milestone hits like its 2X PLATINUM title track (her second No. 1 at Country radio). While tearing up stages across North America on the blockbuster AM I OKAY? TOUR (a coast-to-coast trek now immortalized on Am I Okay? Tour (Live)), Moroney thrilled fans with the release of two radio-ruling tracks from Cloud 9: “6 Months Later” (a GOLD-certified Top 10 smash that marked her highest Billboard Hot 100 debut yet) and “Beautiful Things” (a beloved live favorite that debuted at No. 64 on the Hot 100).
