Listen to “Angelina” Here

(Nashville, Tennessee — May 28, 2026) Texas-based country singer-songwriter Danny Griego has officially earned a Mediabase AC Top 10 as his emotionally charged single “Angelina” climbs to No. 10 on the Mediabase Published AC Chart for the week ending May 23, 2026. The milestone marks another major career achievement for Griego, whose heartfelt storytelling and passionate advocacy continue resonating with listeners nationwide.
The achievement is made even more notable by the fact that Griego is currently the only independent artist represented inside the Mediabase AC Top 10, and one of the very few independent artists to reach the chart’s Top 10 in more than a decade. The accomplishment also marks another milestone release for Inperpetuity Entertainment, the independent label behind Griego’s recent success.
The accomplishment follows a steady climb at radio for “Angelina,” which made its AC chart debut on April 4 and has continued gaining momentum across the country. The single has been supported by dozens of Mediabase AC stations, with standout airplay in markets including Huntsville, Omaha, Tucson, Reno, Johnson City, Phoenix, Atlantic City, Nassau, and Bridgeport.
“This song has meant so much to me from the beginning, so seeing it break into the Top 10 is incredibly special,” shares Griego. “I’m grateful to every radio programmer, every listener, and everyone who believed in this record. ‘Angelina’ is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever released.”
Written by Jerry Crutchfield, Mark Nessler, and Griego, and recorded at Dark Horse Studios in Franklin, Tennessee, “Angelina” is a haunting, emotionally driven ballad centered around heartbreak, vulnerability, and the emotional walls people build after loss. The song continues to connect deeply with audiences through its cinematic storytelling and authentic delivery.
The Top 10 milestone further solidifies Griego’s growing impact within the format while adding to an already impressive career that includes recognition as a Billboard Top 10 recording artist. Throughout his career, Griego has shared creative ties with legendary songwriters and performers, including Waylon Jennings, Billy Joe Shaver, Hank Cochran, Red Lane, Max D. Barnes, John D. Loudermilk, and Augie Meyers.
Beyond music, Griego remains deeply committed to supporting American Veterans. He is the Founder of Freedom Horse Ranch, a Texas-based 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping Veterans, first responders, and individuals facing physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges through therapeutic equine-assisted programs. His advocacy work has long been woven into his artistry, including through songs like “Twenty-Two,” which brought attention to the Veteran suicide crisis.
Radio promotion efforts for “Angelina” have been led by Howard Rosen Promotions, helping fuel the song’s continued growth across the AC format, while publicity for Griego is handled by Nashville-based entertainment PR firm AristoPR. The single’s Top 10 achievement arrives as Griego continues a busy season of touring, new music, and ongoing performances supporting military Veterans and their families.
With a growing fanbase of more than 116,000 followers on Facebook, over 200,000 followers on X, and nearly 49,000 followers on Instagram, Griego continues building momentum as both an artist and advocate.
About Danny Griego: Danny Griego is a Texas-based country singer/songwriter whose rich blend of outlaw, cowboy, Americana, and Latin influences came to the fore on his 2014 album, Cowboys, Outlaws & Border Town Dogs. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of musical voices, Griego’s sound reflects a deep appreciation for both traditional and genre-bending storytelling. From his early days gigging around saloons and rodeos to a lengthy stay in Nashville where he befriended legends like Hank Cochran and Waylon Jennings, Griego has created a diverse catalog of songs that reflect his personal story. A survivor of a lightning strike during his college years, Griego taught himself fingerpicking on his grandfather’s nylon-string guitar as part of his rehabilitation — a turning point that shaped his path as a songwriter. His discography includes Destination (2007), Cowboys, Outlaws & Border Town Dogs (2014), 22 (2018), “You Never Stop Loving Somebody” (2019), the “FREEDOM” music video (2024), and the Billboard-charting single “Madison Motel,” which reached No. 27 in 2023 through Inperpetuity Entertainment during Griego’s previous distribution partnership with Warner. “Angelina” marks his latest release.
