New Release Marks the First Single from Upcoming Album, Celebrates Three Years Cancer-Free, and Continues the Story Behind His New Book, Tenacious

(NASHVILLE, Tenn. — June 11, 2026) Award-winning entrepreneur, creative director, author, and singer-songwriter Scott Scovill is kicking off a new musical chapter with the release of his single, “Hungover and Over,” out tomorrow (June 12). Written by Scovill and Alexander Julius Wright, the upbeat anthem serves as the first release from his forthcoming album and arrives as he launches a European tour opening for country superstar Brad Paisley. Pre-save “Hungover and Over” here.
While the song is lighthearted, it emerged during a season of reflection and renewal. After overcoming cancer, Scovill found himself writing a series of deeply personal songs centered around life’s challenges and uncertainties. When Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) introduced him to Wright, the pair decided to take a different approach, trading heavier themes for something fun, relatable, and celebratory.
The result was “Hungover and Over,” one of the quickest songs Scovill has ever written. Built around the familiar experience of swearing off alcohol after a rough morning only to find yourself right back in the middle of another unforgettable night, the track embraces the humor and unpredictability of life’s adventures. Its energetic spirit is amplified by background vocals from several of Scovill’s loved ones, including his girlfriend Katie, helping transform the recording into the musical equivalent of a late-night gathering among friends.
“The whole thing just felt fun,” he shares. “And speaking of fun, I’ve now been cancer-free for three years.”
“Hungover and Over” marks the beginning of Scovill’s first album in nearly two years. The forthcoming project will feature 10 original songs that blend humor, resilience, and storytelling shaped by an unconventional life and career.
Additionally, the release follows the publication of Scovill’s new book, Tenacious, which chronicles his journey from rock bottom to becoming an award-winning entrepreneur, creative director, and performer. Through candid stories and hard-earned lessons, the book explores how determination, creativity, and a willingness to embrace opportunity transformed his life. The themes of perseverance and living life to the fullest that define Tenacious are also reflected in his new music.
While many know Scovill as a creative force behind some of country music’s biggest productions, “Hungover and Over” showcases another side of his artistic journey. A CMA Touring Award winner for his work with Garth Brooks and recipient of the Visual Designer of the Year award for his work with Paisley, Scovill has spent decades helping bring other artists’ visions to life. Now, he is stepping further into the spotlight with a collection of songs drawn directly from his own experiences.
One of those songs, the unreleased fan favorite “Put You in the Ground,” has already become a highlight of his European performances. Despite its tongue-in-cheek title, it has connected strongly with audiences, prompting Scovill to close his sets with it even before its official release.
The enthusiasm from audiences has extended to “Hungover and Over” as well, with crowds singing along.
“It feels incredible to watch people connect with these songs,” says Scovill. “I love singing them, and seeing audiences have fun with them makes it even better.”
