Written by John PayCheck and recorded at Gnome Studios with producer Bill McDermott (George Strait, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley), it’s the third focus track off his forthcoming third studio album, Better Plan, arriving everywhere digitally on November 27. For many recording artists, songs about military service are written from a place of admiration and respect. For PayCheck, who was motivated by the tragic events of 9/11 to join the U.S. Army, they’re written from his own battlefield experiences and having lived through the realities that countless other songs can only attempt to describe. “Battles You Never Knew” isn’t just another patriotic anthem or a sentimental tribute.
