The Kentucky Headhunters Headline Labor Day Birthday Bash In Tennessee.

The Legendary Grammy winning band The Kentucky Headhunters From Edmonton Kentucky Once again Headlined The Shed Smokehouse & Juke Joint yearly Labor Day Birthday Bash! The Shed is a big outdoor Venue with a covered stage and is part of The Smoky Mountain Harley Davidson In Maryville Tennessee. This was The Sheds 22nd Annual Birthday Bash. Tennessee has been having an extra hot and humid summer with heat indexes into the 100s. But That Didn’t stop The fans from arriving in droves to see their favorite band The Kentucky Headhunters! Opening the Show was a band called The Damn Shames. They too are from Kentucky and did a wonderful job opening the show. Then after their set a brief pause and then It was Time for The Kentucky Headhunters!
Although it was very hot and humid The guys hit the stage and didn’t slow down! The Crowd was dancing and singing from the start! Of course The guys played all your favorite Headhunter Songs like “ Walk Softly On This Heart Of Mine.” “ Dumas Walker” “ Daddy Was a Milk Man” “Its Chitlin Time” “ Stumblin” “ Big Boss Man” ( Which they Re-Released that album October 31st 2025) “ Louisianna COCO”( Which Richard Young Sings ) “ Spirit In The Sky” “ Oh Lonesome Me”. One Particular song they did was a song Ive not heard them do live in a long time was their song “ Wishing Well” . It Is From Their second album titled Electric Barnyard that was released in 1991. The Song was Written by Brothers Fred and Richard Young and Anthony Kenney. So That was a Real Treat for the crowd ( And Me!) You Never Know What You Will Hear The Guys Play! Rock, Country, Blues . But One Thing is for certain drummer Fred Young Will Have his drum solo which is always a Huge hit With The crowd! He Starts off with his drum sticks to the roar of the crowd then Goes to hitting the drums and cymbals with his fists and hands. All while The crowd is cheering Go Fred Go! He was Definitely back hitting on all Cylinders after health issues caused him to miss the Shed show two years ago. But When He balled up those fists and took that first hit with his hands so hard it Shook the stage! The Crowd went wild!
Now another Fun Highlight of the night is always when The Band Gets The Shed/Smoky Mountain Harley owner Scott Maddux up to play guitar on a song! He’s The Only person Ive Seen Richard Young Turn his Guitar over to in all the years Ive seen and photographed them. Its always a fun Jam for The Guys and The crowd.
Fred Put his signature Coonskin / Davy Crockett Cap back on to end the night when they played ” Hey Jude” and “ Oh Lonesome Me” . It was Another Great Show and Night at The Shed. Fans were commenting about making their annual trek to the shed every year to see their favorite band The Kentucky Headhunters saying They Never Miss Them . And others commenting how they Never Disappoint.! (I will have to agree with that.! )
Another Great Show and Birthday Bash.

The Kentucky Headhunters have always been a Rock band with Rural Roots than a country band. Did you know They played The Sweden Rock Festival with Queen 2016.
They Show No signs of slowing down either. They Just Played The Grand Ole Opry In Nashville Tennessee Right before The Shed Show featuring Them and, The Oak Ridge Boys, Larry Gatlin and The Gatlin Brothers among others.
They also were just a part of a documentary called “ That Georgia Rhythm” By Rodney Mills and its due out this fall!!
