DUSTIN LYNCH CALLS UP ASHLEY COOKE FOR “HOW YOU BEEN”

Up-Tempo Duet Revisits The One That Got Away

Clean Slate Arrives October 30 – Pre-Add, Pre-Save and Pre-Order Now

NASHVILLE, TENN. (October 2, 2026) – MULTI-PLATINUM, 10x #1 hitmaker Dustin Lynch teams up with Ashley Cooke on “How You Been,” an up-tempo country duet that turns one phone call into a rush of summer memories. Available everywhere today, listen HERE.

Described by Lynch as a “chapter 2” to his 4X PLATINUM smash “Thinking ’Bout You,” “How You Been” finds an old connection suddenly back on the line, reopening a chapter neither side may have completely left behind. Ferris wheel first kisses, moonlit nights and a summer in Myrtle Beach come flooding back as a casual check-in starts sounding more like an invitation to pick up where they left off.

“I’m so happy to finally have a song out with Ashley. She sounds incredible on ‘How You Been,’ and from the first time I heard it, it felt like the perfect song for us to do together,” shares Lynch. “To me, it feels like chapter two of ‘Thinking ’Bout You.’ It’s that idea of reconnecting with somebody from your past and realizing those memories might still mean something to both of you. Ashley brings so much personality to her side of the song, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

“The second I heard this song, I was beyond excited Dustin asked me to be a part of it,” shares Cooke. “Not only is it an absolutely infectious melodically, but lyrically it packs a punch and has that clever double entendre I really love in a song. It’s that ‘invisible string’ story in a way that feels fun and flirty. Great song and even better duet partner, what more could you ask for?”

Matching the song’s forward momentum, “How You Been” trades studio gloss for an up-tempo, driving arrangement with the feel of a full band in the room. Lynch and Cooke play both sides of the conversation, their vocals bringing a lived-in ease to a story that hangs on a deceptively simple question: if the memories are still this vivid, how far away is the past really?

“How You Been” offers another look at Lynch’s seventh studio album, Clean Slate, arriving October 30 via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. Across 12 tracks, the album finds Lynch taking stock of where he’s been and where he wants to go next, exploring love from every angle – from new possibilities and hard-earned perspective to heartbreak, second chances and the connections that refuse to disappear.
