NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rising indie country recording artist Lauren Rismiller (Tennessee Rolling Hill Records) celebrates the release of her new single, “Damn Blue,”* the second installment in her 2026 waterfall series of recordings, arriving Friday, December 11, 2026.
Penned by the Ohio-based songstress alongside Tamara Stewart and Courtney Bach and recorded in Nashville under the direction of Grammy-nominated producer Kent Wells (Dolly Parton), the melancholic meditation on a former lover captures the sadness and isolation that follow the conclusion of a romantic relationship. A lament to a past lover, the hauntingly despondent ballad emanates with undercurrents of sorrow, mirroring a real and quiet pain. Delicate acoustic guitar strums accompanied by brooding pedal steel riffs create a forlorn atmosphere that delicately cradles Rismiller’s heart-wrenching delivery.
The 21-year-old songstress creates a rare balance of unwavering strength and raw vulnerability with signature dynamics and emotional lyrics that feel earned.
I’m just so damn blue and lost at sea After letting you swim – In the deepest parts of me I feel like I’m drowning- in all this emptiness blaming myself for this loneliness Coz after what you put me through I’m just so damn blue
Maintaining a vocal depth and discipline that feel mature, Rismiller turns inward, examining her own feelings as she navigates heartbreak, desolation and the difficult process of moving forward amidst an overwhelming emptiness.
“There is so much about this song that I’m proud of, both lyrically and sonically,” Rismiller says. “Kent really pushed me vocally and helped to pull out the emotion of the break-up… While she’s free to ‘love any way the wind blows,’ she’s drowning in a pain that feels hopeless and paralyzing. Kent helped me to capture the essence of the pain in that line.”
“Lauren is a hardworking dedicated artist,” says Wells. “She has a unique dialect and vocal delivery that makes her identifiable. Those very talents are her signature in ‘Damn Blue,’ and make her a stand-out amidst the sea of newcomers in the format. She put her all into this recording.”
“…’Blaming myself for this loneliness’ is an honest lyric that just pulls you in — it all ties into the metaphor. ‘Damn Blue’ is like the ocean and feeling lost at sea, drowning in loneliness,” Rismiller adds.
The December release is Rismiller’s fourth studio recording. Lauren introduced “Heart Broke In A Bar” in May 2026 which followed her singles “I Miss Johnny” and her original holiday tune “Mistletoe Won’t” in December 2025.
