“It’s Christmas Time, It’s Christmas Time” Ava Rowland– a rising country star has taken a seat to talk about what makes up her Christmas celebrations. From singing with her family, to watching some of Christmas’ most cherished films Ava has it covered in this exclusive Music Matters Magazine interview!
Christmas is a time for joy and happiness to spend with friends and family. How do you plan to spend your Christmas this year?
I plan to spend Christmas at home with my friends and family making cookies and watching “ A Christmas Story” and “Elf”.
What are your favorite festivities surrounding Christmas?
I love walking through Christmas lights and attending Christmas Eve Service. I love going shopping and seeing all of the Christmas decorations and hearing the Christmas music. My favorite festivity is sitting around with my guitar and family singing Christmas carols.
Let’s settle the debate: when should someone put up their Christmas tree?
Growing up my family always put the tree up right after Thanksgiving. Now that I’m grown I actually think having the tree up before Thanksgiving helps to kick off the holiday season.
What is the best gift you’ve received for Christmas?
The best gift I’ve received was when I was 15 years old and I got my very first guitar! I remember that night my Grandpa taught me my very first song on guitar. It was “Suspicious Minds” by Elvis Presley.
What song(s) get you in the Christmas spirit?
Oh my gosh. This list could go on forever. I love “ It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas”, “ O Holy Night”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, “Christmas In Heaven”, “ The First Noel”, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”,” Be Born In Me”, “Silent Night”, and “What Child Is This”.
Would you consider creating a Christmas album? If so, what songs would you include, or would they be originals?
Yes. Absolutely! I would have on there “ The First Noel”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, “ White Christmas”, “Santa Baby”, “ Christmas Is”, “ Mary Did You Know?” and “Christmas In Heaven”.
Rank your top favorite Christmas themed movies
1. Home Alone 2. Rudolph 3. Elf 4. A Christmas Story 5.The Santa Clause 6. The Christmas Shoes 7. Jack Frost (1998).
Does your family have any Christmas traditions that are unique?
I’m the only girl in my family to play guitar, so it’s a lot of fun to play along with my Grandfather and Uncle. We lead the family in singing Christmas carols.
With Christmas comes cold weather and snow. Do you like enjoy the cold weather? Snow?
I don’t like the cold, however, I like it snowing on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day. After that it could stay away!
Did you build a snowman when it were a kid?
Yes! Every year my sister Chlo’e and I were outside building one.
