Hot chocolate, Eggnog, or Apple Cider?
Jake: Hot chocolate! I rarely drink the other two!
Do you have a favorite holiday scent?
Jake: Honestly anything tied to baking. The smell of cinnamon is very nostalgic for me.
What are you most thankful for this year?
Jake: I’m thankful for my wife and daughter above all else and their patience with me!
Do you enjoy decorating?
Jake: My wife does, I’m learning to!
Let’s settle the debate: does the Christmas tree go up after Halloween or after Thanksgiving?
Jake: Let people do what makes them happy. Have it up all year for all I care. Life is hard – people should do whatever makes them feel the best.
Do you have any Christmas traditions? If not, are there any that you would like to try or start?
Jake: We have a tradition called “gift from the heart” that my parents started. We would draw names and then have to create a gift special for that person that is partially made. Some of my best memories come from those nights on christmas eve of opening those.
How long did you believe in Santa?
Jake: Was I supposed to stop?
Do you do your Christmas shopping early, or are you a last second shopper?
Jake: I used to be last second but I’ve made a pretty drastic change. I chip away at it now from halloween time until christmas. I do always wait to do my wrapping on christmas eve though, weird thing that I enjoy.
What does Christmas mean to you?
Jake: It’s a time to reflect on what actually matters and to think about yourself less.
We all know Christmas dinners mean some of the dishes that we’ve been craving like homemade dressing, grandma’s turkey and ham. What is the dish you are most looking forward to digging into come Christmas dinner?
Jake: My mother always made orange rolls and a sausage/egg casserole for christmas breakfast that I loved. We never did a dinner.
What are your plans this year for Christmas?
Jake: We have a lot of different families spread out over the state of Utah so we will be on the christmas family tour this year!
Do you have to have snow to really make it feel Christmas or could you live without it?
Jake: I despise snow. If I could avoid it completely I would. I have zero attachment to it.
Are there any Christmas tunes you like to put on to set the Christmas mood?
Jake: We grew up on the amy grant christmas cd, I’ll go with that.
We see it every year, something new is made smelling or tasting like pumpkin spice. What are your thoughts? Overkill, bring it on, or really do not care?
Jake: I’m indifferent, again, let people enjoy things!
Do you have any memorable Christmas memories from your childhood or recent that make Christmas a memorable time of year?
Jake: Just being with family with no distractions. That connection is priceless.
From The Grinch, Santa Claus, Home Alone, there’s tons of Christmas movies to get into the Christmas spirit, Rank your top 5 Christmas movies.
Jake: I don’t have a top 5, but the Jim Carey Grinch is top tier!
Who would win a fight: Santa or The Grinch?
Jake: Santa would kill the grinch with kindness
