NEW YORK, N.Y. – They came from Maine, New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Philadelphia and beyond – and started lining up long before midnight – to be part of Kenny Chesney’s kick-off for Silver Sands Marina on the Plaza with “TODAY”’s Citi Concert Series. They brought license plates saying “SS Marina,” signs that said “Skipped School for This,” “Too Old for High Heels, But Not No Shoes,” “Virgina Is For Kenny Chesney Lovers” and “My First Kenny Chesney Concert,” as well as Pirates Flags, tennis pros, bags of Goldfish and sundry tokens of No Shoes Nation for the show that saw the live debut of the title track, “Goldfish” and “Carry On.”
 
“I figured if we’ve got the band in place, we might as well open it up,” said the East Tennessee songwriter-superstar. “To play these songs for the people, to feel the energy and see how they light people up is what it’s all about… And it was great they gave us five songs, so we could go deep – and have some fun. And it was.”

With the new songs landing with a big smile and bigger energy, Chesney has gotten his 21^st album underway like only he can. Live on several ESPN shows this afternoon, he will join his friends at the table on “The View” tomorrow. Even more, the Country Music Hall of Fame inductee is set to world premiere a special animated clip of “Goldfish” tonight as part of his second TalkShopLive appearance, where he will further unpack his new album and take questions from the people watching. “Since we’re all gonna be together, this is the place to show off this new, animated take on our ‘Goldfish’ video,” Chesney shares. “We were talking about how much fun the video we shot was and childlike this song is, and figured, ‘Why not take it all the way… and make a cartoon out of it?’ It’s amazing what you can do when you add in animation.
 
“All of the animals not only come to life – and have some pretty good rhythm. But through some really creative people’s magic, they even brought Poncho and Da Ruba Girl to the party! What could be better? And the people at TalkShopLive worked so hard to figure out how we can make world premiering this video a part of tonight’s stuff.”
 
Next week, Chesney joins Gayle King on “CBS Mornings,” as well as Joe Torre for “NBC Nightly News” segment “Great Americans.” As “Carry On” crests the top of the charts and the Original Vibe Room 2027 Tour tickets for 19 stadium shows go on sale, Silver Sands Marina arrives with a flourish and a lot of fun.
 
“It’s been three years since I put out a record, and we’ve got new music to play,” Chesney says. “This has been such a creative time for me and the band, and we’re loving every moment. If it’s this much fun now, I can’t imagine what next year’s tour is gonna be like – because these songs are landing now, it’s going to be crazy when we get to Tampa. Just the way we like it.”
